Publication Design

Affinity Magazine is one of the largest teen-run platforms dedicated to giving young writers early experience in journalism, writing, and editorial communication. Since its launch in 2013, it has reached over 8.5 million readers across 200+ countries, with contributors covering topics including feminism, LGBTQ+ issues, race, politics, mental health, and entertainment.

This project explores a printed “Best of” annual publication as a companion to the existing digital platform. The concept focuses on a 2020 Year in Review, featuring 12 selected articles, one per month, curated through a reader voting system integrated into the website experience.

The design translates a digital-first editorial voice into a print format, with an emphasis on on-trend typographic styling and pacing while maintaining the tone of each piece. The publication is intended as a limited-edition piece that highlights community engagement and reflects the breadth of voices within Affinity’s contributor network.
